From underwear to outerwear and everything in between

Just a super quick update on everything that is happening in this crazy world at the moment....

I have recently spent the last few weeks working at J.W. Anderson. Menswear and womenswear company, based in London, which has been great fun. Lots of hard work (but no one said life would be easy, and I'd only complain if it was!) Currently in the midst of production, working on creating the collections that will be going into Liberty's and on ASOS, which is rather exciting that something I will have sewn will be sold in one of the long established British department stores. More on that as and when I have info...

Next, I've been asked to become a blogger for Enamore. Which I'm really happy to be working with Jenny and the new team again and should be really good and interesting experience.
The blogs will span all sorts of topics and will coincide the launch of the new website, which will land in early July.. so not long now at all!

I also have a few other side projects, which I am in the process of completing so will have more to explain and promote when the smaller details have been finalised, but for now that should pretty much cover a very hectic few weeks!

A Single Man

As always I find myself to be behind 'the times'. On this occasion, my ever growing To Do list had thus far prevented me from watching Tom Ford's 'A Single Man', however, finally this evening, I got around to it.

After reading a few reviews, and hearing many a comment throughout the studios, I was thoroughly looking forward to watching this film, if some what dubious about the amount of pretension that the film could behold. However, I thought it was well cast, Colin Firth was absolutely breath taking as lead George Falconer and the film, as rarely seems to happen more recently, kept my attention from start the finish.

Based on the book by Christopher Isherwood, a rather sad story of lost love and how to deal with the impending pain, the friendship between Firth and Moore in the film is infectious but again another angle of lost love, though unrequited rather than through death.

The film is a beautiful set of flash backs and current happenings in one day in Falconer's life. The soundtrack, which, in my opinion set the mood for the film fabulously, was melancholic but spine tingling. I also loved the use of colour, the monochromatic images, juxtaposed beautifully against the images of bland colour where you could feel Falconer was disconnected with his life, which were in total contrast to the gorgeous use of colour in the moments when Falconer felt a connection to the world.

Many a beautiful male, who all could quite happily be cast in one of Tom Ford's commercials, (I'm sure I've seen Nicholas Hoult floating somewhere around there before...!) However, I am most certainly not complaining. I am a great lover of Ford's work, it is undoubtedly always aesthetically pleasing and this film is certainly if nothing else a beautiful picture to watch. It just so happens that it contains a wonderful cast and a the script is gripping and interesting.

Graduate Show pictures

Last week, we had our graduate show at Uni which also entailed an exhibition as well as a catwalk show.
After a hectic morning of on the phone house hunting alongside a photo shoot (I would be lost without the talent to multitask!) Lunchtime came with the prep of the evening's catwalk shows.
All in all there were two really successful shows, the studios were packed out and both ran without any hiccups (always a bonus!)

Below are the photos of the event, a big thank you has to be said to my wonderful models, and Ivelin Metodiev the fabulous photographer who I have worked with on many occasions and his talent never fails to astound me! Also to Lorne Blackford, who has gone through the design stages and been a wonderful fit model as well as someone to creatively bounce ideas with and also Naomi Crossley, my wonderful big sister who stepped in at the last minute to help me with my hair and make up. Without these fabulous people, this show would not have worked for me!
